Print Making - Lino Cut - All Abilities
If you have ever wanted to turn your drawings into bold, repeatable works of art, this hands-on practical lino cut course is for you. You’ll learn how to master carving tools to sculpt form, texture and tone out of a simple block of lino. We’ll dive deep into the magic of positive and negative space, master the trick of reversing and transferring your images, and experiment with printing on a variety of beautiful papers.

By the end of this course, you’ll go from a blank block to your very own limited-edition print run!

• Week 1: Get a feel for the tools and experiment with different carving techniques.
• Week 2: Sketch 3 designs and learn how to transfer your favourite onto the lino.
• Week 3: Explore test printing and see your creation come to life on different paper textures.
• Week 4: Take what you’ve learned/experienced from weeks 1 to 3 and develop a second design.
• Week 5: Mix, roll and experiment with coloured inks to explore and develop your ideas.
• Week 6: Bring all your skills together to develop a final design.

You are welcome to bring own tools for carving (to be used at own risk). Please sharpen them before the session.

From week 2, learners may bring photographs or designs they may wish to use in their design on lino. This will be discussed further in week 1.
