Shape Your Future - Work & Skills Pathway: CV Clinic
Would your CV pass the 7 second test?
Our CV Clinic is a practical, free, supportive workshop designed to help you update, improve or begin to create a CV that clearly reflects your skills and experience.
In a small, friendly group, you will receive guidance, tools and feedback to help you create a clear, effective CV and a strong personal statement. The session also supports you to recognise and value your transferable skills, including skills gained through work, caring, volunteering or life experience.
The workshop offers a relaxed environment where learners can share ideas, ask questions and build confidence in a key step towards employment or career change.

Is this course suitable for me?
This workshop is suitable for you if you:
• are currently not working and looking for a job
• are thinking about a career change
• feel your CV is outdated, incomplete or no longer reflects your skills
• want support identifying and describing your transferable skills
• want practical, friendly guidance in a small group setting
You do not need to have a finished CV. All versions, including drafts or old CVs, are welcome. Please note, we cannot create a CV for you, however we can show you how to create an impactful CV that matches your needs.

• You are welcome to bring a laptop or device, but this is not essential
• All learning materials are provided
• There are no additional costs

• The session is supportive and practical, with no assessment
• You can work at your own pace

Alongside improving your CV, you will develop transferable skills such as:
• recognising and describing your skills and strengths
• written communication skills
• confidence talking about your experience
• reflecting on goals and next steps
• engaging positively in a learning or work focused group
After this workshop, learners may choose to:
• attend other Shape Your Future – Work and Skills Pathway workshops
• explore employability support, volunteering or job opportunities
• build skills and confidence through learning with York Learning
• progress to Maths, English, Digital Skills or ESOL courses
• check to see if you are eligible for further support on our employability project
• book a 1-1 Careers and Learning appointment with us
All progression is optional and led by you. We can support you with the next step.

Please note that Adult Education funding is for individuals who are over the age of 19 on the 31st of August prior to the start date of their course.
