Seasonal Inspired - Dorset Button Making
This workshop provides an introduction to the Heritage Craft of Dorset button making, a 400-year-old traditional skill used to make beautiful buttons. You'll learn the processes and develop the techniques to create your own unique Christmas decorations, gifts or an individual set of buttons.
This is an opportunity to learn the Dorset Crosswheel button technique and explore the endless design possibilities under the guidance of textile artist Helen Foroughi. In the workshop, you will be able to create a unique set of buttons for your knitting or crafting. Make festive fun earrings or shawl pins, Christmas hanging decorations, or simply enjoy the absorbing and mindful process of making and experimenting with colour and pattern.

The aim of this workshop is to learn and perpetuate a heritage skill. We'll explore its creative uses in an inspiring, friendly, relaxed and mindful environment. Helen will guide you through the making process and provide you with access to handouts with detailed information and instructions on the technique to refer back to in your own time.
No previous experience is required. The workshop is suitable for absolute beginners and those looking to improve and extend their textile and artistic skills.

Please also bring a pair of scissors.
