Shape Your Future - Wellbeing Pathway: 5 Ways to Wellbeing
Shape Your Future – Wellbeing Pathway: 5 Ways to Wellbeing is a supportive 5 week course designed to help you feel more confident by focusing on wellbeing.
Our course is based on the NHS 5 Ways to Wellbeing (Connect, Be Active, Take Notice, Keep Learning, and Give) and offers a gentle introduction to being part of a small learning group. Sessions are relaxed, supportive and practical, with no assessments and no pressure to share personal experiences.
This course forms part of the Shape Your Future: Wellbeing Pathway offer and can be taken as a starting point, or alongside other learning, depending on what feels right for you.

This course is suitable for you if you:
• feel unsure or anxious about returning to learning
• have experienced mental health, health or wellbeing challenges
• have caring responsibilities or have been out of work or education for some time
• have had difficult or negative past experiences of education
• want a supportive, low pressure environment to build confidence
You do not need any qualifications or recent study experience.

• You do not need to bring anything – just commit to attending
• All learning materials are provided, though do bring a laptop, smart phone, or tablet, if you have one/want to
• There are no additional costs

• The course runs for 5 weeks, with 2 hour sessions
• There is no formal assessment and no pass or fail
• During each class, you will complete an informal learning record so you can set simple goals and keep track of your progress
• Activities are designed to be low pressure
• Breaks are included and you can do activities at your own pace
• The focus is on wellbeing, confidence and building positive learning habits
This course is a starting point; there is no expectation to move on, though if you choose to, there are lots of options we can support you to access

As well as supporting wellbeing, you will develop transferable skills that are useful for learning, work and everyday life, such as:
• confidence in attending and participating in group settings
• communication and listening skills
• following a simple structure and routine
• reflecting on strengths and interests
• feeling more comfortable trying new things
After completing this course, you may choose to:
• progress to a wide range of skills based, leisure based or fitness courses within York Learning
• progress to Maths, English, Digital Skills or ESOL courses and/or qualifications
• move onto other adult education providers, including HE routes
• continue exploring wellbeing courses within Shape Your Future
• move on to Shape Your Future – Work and Skills Pathway
