Shape Your Future - Wellbeing Pathway: The Seven Ways of Rest
Self Care – The Seven Ways of Rest is a supportive 5 week course designed to help you understand stress, rest and self care in a realistic and accessible way.
The course is based on the idea that rest is more than sleep and explores the seven ways of rest: physical, mental, sensory, creative, emotional, social and spiritual. You will be supported to reflect on energy levels, wellbeing and everyday pressures, while gently rebuilding confidence and positive learning habits in a low pressure environment.
This course forms part of Shape Your Future: Wellbeing Pathway and is suitable for adults returning to learning after a break, or for those managing health, mental wellbeing, caring responsibilities or life pressures

This course is suitable for you if you:
• feel tired, stressed or overwhelmed by everyday demands
• want to understand stress and rest in a supportive, non clinical way
• are managing health or mental wellbeing challenges
• have caring responsibilities or limited time for yourself
• want a gentle, confidence building return to learning
You do not need any qualifications or previous learning experience.

• You do not need to bring anything – just a commitment to attending and taking part in a way that you can manage
• All learning materials are provided, though do bring a laptop, smart phone, or tablet, if you have one/want to
• There are no additional costs

• The course runs for 5 weeks, with 2 hour sessions
• There is no formal assessment and no pass or fail
• During each class, you will complete an informal learning record so you can set simple goals and keep track of your progress

• Activities are designed to be low pressure
• There is no requirement to share personal or medical information
• Breaks are included and you can take a break in class where needed

Alongside wellbeing, you will develop transferable skills that support learning, work and everyday life, including:
• awareness of personal needs, limits and energy levels
• confidence attending and participating in group settings

• understanding boundaries and balance
• building routines that support wellbeing and engagement
After completing this course, you may choose to:
• continue with other wellbeing courses within Shape Your Future
• move on to Shape Your Future –Work and Skills Pathway
• progress to a wide range of skills based, leisure based or fitness courses within York Learning
• progress to Maths, English, Digital Skills or ESOL courses and/or qualifications
• move onto other adult education providers, including HE routes

We can support you to access your options. Progression is optional and guided by learner choice and readiness.

Please note that Adult Education funding is for individuals who are over the age of 19 on the 31st of August prior to the start date of their course.
