Nature and Macro Photography
This gentle, easy-paced 4-hour workshop is designed for people who want to explore the beauty of "the small world" through macro photography. Led by a professional photographer, the session blends clear guidance with plenty of hands-on practice to help you build confidence with your camera.

You’ll learn the fundamentals of macro photography, including composition, focus, light, and simple camera settings, in a relaxed and supportive environment. The workshop includes both indoor and outdoor practice, allowing you to experiment in different conditions and subjects while receiving guidance along the way.

We will use plants and natural forms, as well as resources and artefacts from York Minster's handling collection as our subjects, throughout the day.

Interactive elements are woven into the workshop, with group discussions, shared observations, and constructive feedback to support your learning. No prior experience is required – just curiosity, a camera, and a willingness to slow down and look closely at the world around you.

By the end of the workshop, you’ll have practical skills, fresh inspiration, and a stronger understanding of how to capture detailed, expressive images.
