Social Media Management Fundamentals
If you’re exploring a career as a social media manager, looking to boost your employability or hoping to manage social media channels for your own business, charity or community organisation, this entry level programme provides a thorough and accessible introduction into the world of social media management. The course is designed for individuals who have basic digital literacy and are ready to build practical, job ready skills with a structured and supportive path into the field of social media.

Delivered across six detailed modules, learners will gradually build a foundation in the key pillars of social media management. The course begins by grounding learners in the essentials of what a social media manager is typically required to deliver. Learners will explore how brands use different platforms, and why social media plays such a crucial role in modern communication.

From there, the course moves into the heart of what makes up the social media manager role. These next 4 modules focus on:
- The social media strategy: what it is and how to build one
- Branding and profiles: how to build and optimise a brand in the social space
- Content: the different types of content and formats required across different channels and what makes content engaging
- Media & response management: how advertising supports organic activity and how to manage an active audience online in a professional and dynamic way

The final module of the course introduces analytics and reporting. Participants will explore key performance metrics, understand what success looks like on different platforms, and learn how to use insights to improve their future content, strategy and business goals.

Overall, the course is designed to provide beginners with a clear, comprehensive, and empowering introduction to the role of social media management, ensuring they leave not only with knowledge, but practical experience, confidence, and a strong foundation to continue growing skills.

The course is spread over 6, two and a half hour learning units, and we recommend that learners commit to additional learning in their own time (approx. 5-10hrs). We encourage learners to commit to these hours to ensure they get the best possible outcome from the course.
