Practical Colour Theory for Painters
Learn about practical colour theory with painter Liz Foster and build your confidence in mixing colours. You’ll work through a series of exercises, painting your own studies to explore how colour works.

We’ll cover the basics — hue, value, and complementary colours — as well as more subtle ideas such as colour temperature, harmonious palettes, and the relativity and psychology of colour in art.

Most importantly, you’ll create your own colour experiments to really understand how colours behave when you’re working with paint. We’ll also look at how artists choose their palettes, select pigments and paint types, and the key colours that form the foundation of an artist’s toolkit.
