Print Making - Creating a 2 Plate Print
This course is ideally suited to creative people who love looking at printed artwork, are keen to understand the processes that go towards successful print making and already have some basic knowledge of lino cut methods and techniques.

We will explore the design and process of print making, in detail, by creating a 2 plate print from photographic resources.

Over 6 weeks, we will cover the following:

Week 1: Create a jig to support registration of the print.

Week 2: Using examples of silhouette photos (clarification will be given in the first session), look at planning a 2 plate print and how to transfer the image so it can be broken down on to 2 plates. Start designing and cutting.

Week 3: If happy with the print, look at inking techniques to build up colour and tones to create the background colour.

Week 4: Print the second layer looking at registration and how the colours work or don’t work together.

Week 5: Move onto a second design that may involve carving both plates creating a 3 colour print. Print first colour.

Week 6: Print second design using registration jig to line up the print. Compare outcomes of both prints.
