Introduction to Supporting Children in School
Are you interested in volunteering in a school, or considering a career as a teacher or teaching assistant? This course is the first step in finding how to provide effective support for children in schools.

During the course you will learn about child development, communication, developing positive relationships, safeguarding, and setting boundaries, and how we can use this understanding to provide effective support for children's learning. The course is taught by specialist teachers who have many years’ experience in York's schools.

This course is suitable for anyone who is interested in working or volunteering in a role where they will be supporting children's learning in schools.

All course materials are provided, but you may want to bring a pen and paper to take notes.

Alongside this course, you may be interested in 'Supporting Children with Special Educational Needs' (SEND). This is also offered by the Family Learning team.

Please note that Adult Education funding is for individuals who are over the age of 19 on the 31st of August prior to the start date of their course.
