Collaged Victorian Christmas Card
We will start the day by looking at how the Victorians illustrated their Christmas Cards. Puns, riddles and satire were commonly used, along with some very unique imagery. We will look at some of the meanings behind these.

From the Victorian-themed material and printouts provided, you will gather together what you are drawn to and begin to assemble it onto mount card.

Please also bring imagery of your own if you would like to, but please be aware that we cannot scan imagery on-site or photocopy to provide multiple copies.

You will learn what images attract and intrigue you, with colour and composition always being a key factor. Image-making skills and imagination will be put to the test and also surprise combinations lead to all kinds of stories.

Concluding with the final arrangement being fixed into place, you will then hand finish with pens and inks to create a cohesive image. This image will then be scanned and used as your very personal Christmas card design for 2025, if you wish. Details and suggestions will be given as to how you can get the design printed.
