Drawing and Painting - Absolute Beginners
This relaxed and welcoming course is designed for anyone who’s completely new to art or hasn’t picked up a pencil or paintbrush in years.

Over five weeks, you'll be introduced to the basics of painting and drawing, using a variety of materials and techniques. There’s no pressure and no prior experience needed — just a willingness to have a go and enjoy the process!

Each week we’ll explore different materials, giving you a chance to try things out and see what you enjoy. You’ll build your confidence and start to get a feel for what kinds of creative work you might like to pursue next. We’ll also chat about the different types of art classes that are available, so you’ll feel more informed about where to go from here.

Here’s what we’ll cover:

• Week 1 – Drawing with Pencil and Pen
• Week 2 – Charcoal and Pastel Drawing
• Week 3 – Introduction to Watercolour
• Week 4 – Introduction to Acrylic Painting
• Week 5 – Exploring Mixed Media

Please bring an A4 sketch book to class - this is where you’ll do your do your work as well as make useful notes and stick in handouts.

You will need to provide your own materials for this course, thought there will be some materials to borrow, so don’t worry if you don’t have everything!

In week one, we’ll be drawing in pencil and pens. So please bring pencils, rubber and pens (fine-liner, felt-tip/biros etc.). Your tutor will remind you each week of what to bring the following week.
