Strictly Social Dance for Beginners (Term 3)
Come and join us as we continue to develop our skills and gain more experience on this beginners term 3 level course and to enjoy dancing with confidence! During the course you will learn to Waltz, Foxtrot & Social Jive - the three dances most likely to get you through any social occasion! Each dance will incorporate basics and development figures as well as basic technique, posture, hold and history of the dance.
Dances will be taught in classes which are aimed at couples, so dancers are advised to come with a friend or partner. All genders and dancers are welcome. Lessons are active, with a short break included.

This course is aimed at dancers who have ideally completed term 1 and 2 of the Strictly Social Dance Beginners 1 course, or who have a little social dance experience and are maybe lacking in confidence. Please enrol with a friend or partner as we cannot guarantee a partner to dance with.

This course is for self improvement and but could in turn lead to further training and a variety of careers utilising dance either as exercise or entertainment

Suitable footwear is advised and if dancers have ballroom shoes, this would be appropriate. If not, day shoes can be worn but please avoid heavy shoes or boots, and wear shoes which are comfortable with a heel no higher than 3”.

As we are not qualified healthcare professionals, by participating in one of our courses you agree to take full responsibility for your own health, wellbeing and safety.

If you have any health problems or difficulties that you suffer from which you feel may impact on your ability to participate in this class please ema york.learning@york.gov.uk with the class you will be attending (title/code/tutor) and we will forward this onto the relevant tutor who will, if they feel it appropriate, contact you before your first class to discuss this with you.

Please note that Adult Education funding is for individuals who are over the age of 19 on the 31st of August prior to the start date of their course.
