Digital Functional Skills Level 1
This course will provide you with the essential skills needed to succeed in today's digital world. You'll learn how to use computers and the internet effectively and safely, communicate digitally, and manage your digital life responsibly. By the end of this course, you'll be equipped to navigate the digital landscape with confidence. You will study the following 5 themes over the duration of the course:

Using Devices and Handling Information
You will learn how to carry out searches on the internet, considering currency, reliability and copyright. You will also learn how to carry out searches for files, create and use a folder structure and use an appropriate file naming convention. You will learn how to save a file on cloud storage and understand the limitations on file sizes, as well as using online resources to identify solutions to common technical problems.

Creating and Editing
Using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, you will learn how to use a suitable application for a range of purposes and audiences, use appropriate layout conventions, and edit an image using appropriate tools. You will also learn how to process, format and chart numeric data and apply suitable titles and labels.

Communicating
You will learn how to use email and online messages for a range of contexts and audiences, and how to reduce your digital footprint by using privacy tools to manage cookies and website tracking, private browsing, and restricting GPS information.

Transacting
You will learn how to manage account settings for online services, complete and upload documents and images, and carry out checks to reduce the risks involved in online transactions, verifying website legitimacy, and reading reviews.

Being safe and responsible online
You will learn about key rights under data protection laws and the importance of protecting personal information and privacy online. You will also learn how to back up files to the cloud, avoid exposure to malware, and minimise

If you've taken and passed Essential Digital Skills at Entry 3, or you're confident with some aspects of digital life and want to know more, this is the course for you. We can help to assess your current skills to see if this level would be suitable for you. This course can lead to further study at higher levels or lead to entry level jobs with a basic level of digital skills required.
Prosp User 4
This is a weekly course that requires regular attendance in order to learn, practise and develop all the skills requires to pass the assessment at the end of the course. The assessment is an online Level One Digital Functional Skills nationally recognised
qualification.
