Dressmaking - Zip Masterclass - Concealed Zip
Baffled by zips? Come along to this workshop and learn how to master concealed (invisible) zips. The techniques taught will allow you to add zips to dresses, skirts, trousers, bags, cushions and more……. All materials for this workshop are provided.

The informal session allow learners to be inspired by other class members and there will be demonstrations on a variety of techniques/projects by the tutor.

The course is delivered by a tutor who is also a practitioner in the subject and is on hand to teach by a variety of methods including tutor presentation, varied demonstrations and one-to-one personalised guidance.

Some basic knowledge of operating a sewing machine is preferable.

All materials for this workshop are provided.

Sewing machines, overlockers, a cover stitch machine, a steam generated iron and lots of sewing equipment are available at the venue for learners to use.

You are also welcome to bring along your own sewing machine, but this must be used with a PAT tested extension cable (provided by the venue).

Please note, refreshments are not provided as part of the day, but there is a café on site that sells refreshments and food, or you are welcome to bring your own packed lunch.

The course will be fully supported by ‘Padlet’ (best described as an online noticeboard) where demonstrations and other useful material will be uploaded by the tutor.

Attending a dressmaking and sewing class will enable you to develop transferable skills in the following areas: innovation, problem solving, communication, attention to detail, design skills, fine motor skills, dexterity and commercial awareness.

This course provides skills for self-improvement, which could lead to further study and/or a pathway towards self-employment, or lead onto further education in this subject at York College.
