CPCAB Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills - WEDNESDAY 5.45pm to 9.15pm
This qualification is for anyone who wishes to develop confidence and competence in applying counselling skills in a wider helping role. This course may lead to further qualifications in counselling (and other related fields) such as the Level 3 in Counselling Studies and may also enhance your career prospects within the helping sector.

This course will increase your confidence and competence in the understanding and application of counselling skills to help others, in a wider helping role (either in a voluntary or employed capacity). On completion of the course you will not have qualified counsellor status (this involves further study and experience) but it will provide you with some useful tools and techniques that can be applied in a ‘helping / supportive’ role in various settings e.g. health, education, community, youth, and social work. Upon completion of the 7 mandatory units you will be able to listen to and support others safely and professionally. You are required to complete an electronic portfolio of work in order to gain the qualification.

Please have with you a A4 folder, notebook and a pen(s) and a willingness to participate in group discussion. You may also be required to complete an interview with the course leader. Also essential - GCSE English at A-C or equivalent, good computer skills and access to a computer and the internet. There is a requirement to complete 2-4 hours of independent study per week outside of the taught sessions. THIS COURSE STARTS ON WEDNESDAY 15TH JANUARY (5.45PM TO 9.15PM) On successful completion of this course you may be able to progress to the Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Studies with York Learning. Your portfolio will be built electronically using the Google Classroom space. This course will be online learning.
