Ballet for All
Ballet For All is a friendly, relaxed, fun Ballet class which takes the fundamental elements of Classical Ballet as its base. Like all Ballet classes, our sessions start with barre exercises to consolidate basic technique.
There is an emphasis on correct posture and placement which is needed as we move into the centre to develop various step and movement sequences.

We explore the various elements of Classical Ballet such as turn out, port de bras, adage and allegro and try out the various leaps and turns that come to mind whenever Classical Ballet is mentioned. We may not be able to emulate the Professionals but we can have fun trying!

Whether you studied ballet as a child and wish to restart or are a complete beginner, this course has something to offer you. The main requirements are a love of dance and a sense of fun!

Throughout the course we will cover various aspects and styles of Classical Ballet which will lead to an improved level of strength, flexibility, co-ordination, musicality and cardiovascular fitness.

Before starting any exercise programme, it is advisable to seek advice from your GP or a health professional if you have any health concerns, such as a health condition or an injury. As we are not qualified healthcare professionals, by participating in one of our courses you agree to take full responsibility for your own health, wellbeing and safety.

If you have any health problems or difficulties that you suffer from which you feel may impact on your ability to participate in this class please email york.learning@york.gov.uk with the class you will be attending (title/code/tutor) and we will forward this onto the relevant tutor who will, if they feel it appropriate, contact you before your first class to discuss this with you.

To find your classroom, please enter the school via community reception located at the bottom of the school drive by the main car park. Our door is to the right of the Better/Energise sports centre entrance (separate building) rather than using the school’s main reception back up the drive. Please arrive for your first class 10 minutes early to allow time to complete the health questionnaire to indicate to the tutor any contraindications to undertake exercise.

No class 28th October due to Half Term.
