Skills Bootcamp: Bookkeeping
This level 3 course is made up of 2 units which will develop the complex skills and knowledge necessary to work in a book-keeping role. Students completing this qualification will become competent in financial processes including accounting principles and concepts, advanced book-keeping and preparing financial statements. They will also be introduced to business issues regarding payroll and value added tax (VAT), including an understanding of the documents and reports produced on payroll software, timescales for submissions and payments.

You can start this course if you have a GCSE, or equivalent, in Maths and English and enjoy working with numbers. The course provides an excellent step into an accounting job role to become a senior book-keeper, accounts manager or Ledger manager. Alternatively, you may like to become self-employed or start your own bookkeeping practice.

You can opt to complete 2 exams (Financial Accounting Preparing Financial Statements and Tax Processes for Businesses). On successful completion of these, you can apply to become an AAT Book-keeping member (AATQB). If you are thinking of starting your own practice, you’ll be able to apply to become an AAT Licenced Book-keeper.

The Skills Bootcamp in Bookkeeping is funded by York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority. As part of the Bootcamp, you will be offered a guaranteed interview for a role within the sector by a business.

There will be 3 Saturday sessions in addition to the Monday evening classes. These are 7th December, 8th February and 29th March, all will be 9 - 1:30pm.
