The Italian Kitchen - Risotto alla Zucca - (V - GF)
This course is part of the "Italian Kitchen" series of Saturday workshops.

Come and prepare an Italian lunch while practising your Italian. You will cook a delicious Risotto alla Zucca (Pumpkin Risotto [vegetarian/gluten-free]), a popular Northern Italian dish ideal for Halloween.

You will learn how to prepare the dish by watching a demonstration and listening to a native Italian speaker explaining the ingredients, method of cooking and the importance of choosing the correct type of rice and cheese.

A step-by-step guide and the ingredients for you to cook with are provided by your tutor, and these are included in the cost of the course. You will need to bring a small bottle of dry white wine or Prosecco (approximately 20 cl), as this is required for the risotto and perhaps to drink with your meal.

If you are not driving, the dish can be eaten for lunch along with a glass of wine. If you are driving, please bring your favourite non-alcoholic tipple. You will be given the recipe to take home so that you can make the dish again.

This is a hands-on Italian cookery class with a practical and enthusiastic approach to Italian comfort food and the class will be fun and relaxed.

This workshop is for anyone with a love of Italy and Italian food, who can understand simple instructions in Italian.

If you enjoy cookery and Italian food, and would like to practise your Italian or learn a little of the language at the same time, this is the course for you.

The tutor will talk in both Italian and English for those with a little knowledge of the Italian language. After watching a demonstration of how to prepare Risotto alla Zucca (Pumpkin Risotto), suitable for both vegetarians and gluten-free diets, you will prepare the dish yourself.

If you would like a drink but don't wish to drink wine, or if you are driving, please bring along a non-alcoholic beverage of your choice.

You will also need to bring:
- A paring knife
- A large shallow pan (25/28cm, ideally nonstick)
- Hand towel
- Tea towel
- Apron
- A food container to take some risotto home
- There will be planet friendly bowls and forks to use on the day to eat some of your risotto (before you take the rest home). However, if you would rather use your own bowl and fork, please bring along on the day.
