Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Studies TUESDAY 6PM-9PM **FULLY ONLINE**
This course builds upon the knowledge and insight gained from the CPCAB Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills and is the next step towards becoming a fully qualified counsellor. It explores key theoretical perspectives that underpin the counselling role and introduces the process of clinical supervision, the counselling contract, client assessments and common mental health issues. Your capacity to listen and support others in a professional role will be greatly improved as you will enhance your listening and communication skills through continued skills practice work.
The 7 mandatory units set out by the awarding body (CPCAB) will benefit you both personally and professionally.

This qualification is for candidates who have already acquired a level of knowledge and
understanding in counselling skills from completing the CPCAB Level 2 Certificate (or equivalent) and wish to continue their training. It will not qualify you to be a counsellor, but it will prepare you to progress on to a professional counsellor training course such as the CPCAB Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling.

You may be required to attend an online interview with the course tutor as part of the application process if we feel it is appropriate to do so. Essential course requirements are - GCSE English at A-C or equivalent, good computer skills and access to a computer and the internet. All of our courses require you to take part in group discussion and actively share
aspects of yourself as part of the learng therefore a willingness to do so is essential.
There is a requirement to complete 3-5 hours of independent study per week outside of the taught sessions. In order to gain the qualification, you are required to complete an electronic portfolio of work and pass an external exam. You are required to purchase the CPCAB’s book ‘Counselling Skills Studies’ as this is an essential course resource.

To enrol, you must have successfully completed a CPCAB Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills or equivalent. A minimum of one years’ experience of working in a helping role (paid or voluntary) is essential if you do not have the Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills (or equivalent).

On successful completion of this course, you may be able to progress to the Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling with York Learning.
