Practical Photography - Being Creative
Learn all you need to know about creative photography with professional photographer Carys.

This course is great for people who want to try something creative, pick up a new hobby or just have fun with the support of the group.

The course will teach basic photography skills with a creative approach. You’ll practise photographing each other, still life - and anything of interest to you!

Each week you will develop a new aspect of your skillset and have fun with very simple but effective DIY photo projects.

Across the 5-week period you will have a combination of mini-workshops, practical photography and reviews of your work.

The goal of this course is to complete the course feeling confident to imagine new ways to capture the ordinary, to think outside the box when it comes to creating interesting photographs and to be confident to delve into the world of abstract a little - and to just have fun in a low pressure environment.

This course is suitable for people who have an interest in testing some new things out with their cameras, and who are happy with a trial and error approach to photography.

You will be encouraged to follow guidance but also to develop your own creative portraiture and still life ideas amongst your peers.

As well as giving you the opportunity to connect with others, the course will provide skills for creative thinking, and help you to develop your resourcefulness and confidence in learning something new, which could lead to you transferring those skills to other areas of your life.

You will need to provide your own camera, batteries, memory cards - and bring them to each class.

Materials will be provided for things like backdrops, accessories, fun props - but as the course progresses you will be more than welcome to bring in anything you may like and will be invited to bring whatever everyday item you think is visually interesting (and transportable) to class to incorporate into your photos. This could include fabrics, foliage and flowers, and props, for example.
