Architecture Photography at York Minster
This one-day workshop is designed for those who enjoy taking photos of interesting buildings and architecture, and those who relish the opportunity to spend a day at York Minster, one of the world's most magnificent cathedrals.

During the day, you will be offered the chance to explore and enhance your photography skills by examining at the architecture and stained glass of York Minster.

We will learn some useful techniques including framing, exposure, focus and shutter speed. We will also discuss some great examples before you apply the insights and techniques learned to your own work.

Throughout the session you will have the opportunity to create your own stunning images of York Minster and gain confidence in architecture photography.

We will start the session in the Old Palace Studio with a discussion about what will be covered in the workshop before we go out into the Minster and Minster grounds.

This workshop is suitable for anyone interested in photography, from complete beginners to more experienced amateur photographers.

Initial skills gained from this workshop could lead to a further course in photography and potentially, longer term, to employment within this sector.

You will need to bring your own digital camera or camera phone and a tripod (optional).

A digital SLR camera is recommended, but not essential.

If you require refreshments, please bring your own, or you can buy refreshments in town.

This course takes place in York and involves walking around York Minster and the Minster Gardens to take photographs. (Please note that tripods and the use of a flash are not allowed in the Minster.) You will have free access to the Minster on the day as part of the workshop, so you do not need to have a York Card or show proof of address.

We will meet outside the Old Palace at the start of the workshop. (The Old Palace is also known as the Minster Library, which is located in Dean's Park at York Minster.)

Please ensure that you arrive in good time so that we can make a prompt start at 11am.

Please note that the Minster does not have on-site parking. There are bike racks and a number of buses that stop nearby.
