Life Drawing workshop
Life drawing is an important part of developing your skills as an artist. Working from a model is a challenging but rewarding exercise that will help to improve your observational and drawing abilities.

On the day, we start with a series of short ‘warm-up’ poses, looking at the basics of proportion and anatomy. We then move on to more extended poses where you can work into your studies exploring tone, form and movement. We work from a range of poses focusing on the whole body, rather than details.

You will be given lots of guidance and help from your tutor, and during the class, we look at each other’s work and discuss progress.

In this class you will be drawing from a nude professional life model.

You are given lots of drawing tuition in this class, so it is suitable for beginners as well as advanced learners, even if you have never attended a life class before!

If you are a more experienced artist, then this is an opportunity to develop your skills in an extended workshop with an experienced artist-tutor leading the session.

Please bring several sheets of A3 or A2 paper to draw on. Your tutor has some drawing boards, but if you have your own, please bring it if you can. Our venue does not have easels, so if you have your own you are welcome to bring it along, otherwise the venue has plenty of tables and chairs to work on.

Charcoal will be provided for the day, but you are free to bring your own drawing materials if you prefer. Suggested materials include an eraser, pencils, pastels, graphite and ink. You may work in paint if you wish, though the focus is on drawing.

We will have an extended break at midday for lunch. Please bring your own packed lunch/snacks and cold drinks. Tea and coffee facilities are available at Huntington Community Centre.
