Painting Seascapes workshop
This one day workshop will offer insight and instruction on how to successfully create your very own piece of art using acrylic and/or mixed media with the help and guidance of seascape artist Carolyn Coles, who will share advice and tips, with mini tutorials throughout the day.

Choose from a selection of seascape photos to work from (or bring your own) and be prepared to dive into a creative process where we will look at expanding and building abilities, skills and confidence to create a piece of work you will be proud to show off to friends and family.

Some experience of acrylic or mixed media work would be advantageous.

The course provides learners with skills for self-improvement, which could lead to further study with us or another provider such as York College. It could also provide a pathway towards self-employment.

Our main material will be acrylics. These can be quite messy, so do wear appropriate clothing. You will need a basic range of acrylics. Paint colours must include white, raw sienna and ultramarine.

You will also need stretched canvas/a canvas board no bigger than A2 (you can use paper for acrylics but it tends to buckle so is not ideal). If you would like to work to A2 size, please ensure that your paint tubes are big enough.

Please bring a range of brushes, palettes, a water holder, apron, and a newspaper/cloth to cover the table.

You will need to bring a packed lunch, snacks and any drinks if required, as these are not provided.
