Abstract Art Unleashed
Abstract Art Unleashed opens the lid and looks under the hood of the ideas and techniques driving abstract painting today. This hands-on course dives deep into the world of abstract art, taking you on a journey to embrace and refine your unique style and modes of expression.

In this course, we will work on refining techniques, processes and ideas that we touched upon in the previous course (Further Journeys in Abstract Painting) as well as introducing new ideas and techniques to expand your practice of transforming what you see and feel into art. New learners with experience of painting are also welcome to jump in!

We will continue to look at and take inspiration from contemporary abstract painters, and explore playful exercises that you can apply to your painting practice in general (whether it’s abstract, landscape or figurative). This course is about embracing the freedom of letting go, seeing where the journey takes you, and looking at the world sideways!

The course will be taught online via zoom, and feedback will be provided via an online space on Padlet with personalised advice and group discussions. For an example of a Padlet board from the previous class have a look at: https://padlet.com/YorkLearning/furtherjourneys23

This course is ideal for those people who have some prior experience of painting. If you have done some abstract painting before, or you have experience of landscape or figurative work and want to take it in a more abstract direction, then this course is for you. Please email Kimbal at kimbal.bumstead@yorklearningeducation.co.uk if you have any questions, or would like to see if it’s the right course for you.

This course is suitable for anyone who has an interest in the appreciation and creation of abstract art.

Whilst this course is a continuation of a previous one, you do not need to have done the previous course in order to jump into this one. Ideally you will have had at least a basic experience of doing some painting and drawing before, or if you are interested in trying something new for the first time that is totally fine too!
