Woodwork for Beginners (Enquire only)
We hope to run this course in the summer 2024 term but we are looking for a new tutor so the course isn't confirmed and the dates & course length could change, & we haven't added prices yet. If you are interested in the course please click the Enquire button on the course information page. We will keep a list of all interested learners and contact if / when a course is confirmed.

Learners will produce a small item to take home at the end of the course. The course will be conducted in a relaxed atmosphere with no pressure placed on the learners as everybody needs to work at their own pace and to their own ability level. In previous terms, learners have made a box but this might change with a new tutor.

During the course you will be shown a variety of hand and machine skills, with the option of producing the project by use of hand tools or incorporating some of the woodworking machinery available in the workshop. This can help speed things along, but it is optional. Wood joints, tool use and sharpening will be covered, as well as where to source appropriate items. In addition, construction skills including gluing, clamping and different wood finishes will form part of the course.

At the end of the 5 weeks, you will take home your completed product, for yourself or maybe to use as a gift for family or friends.
