Drawing & Painting (beginners and improvers)
This course is aimed at anyone who is interested in developing their drawing and painting skills, from beginners to those wishing to improve existing skills.

During the course, we will explore the basic elements of art such as line, tone, form, colour, texture and perspective, taking inspiration from a from a range of sources.

We will work through several creative drawing and painting tasks, as well as considering the work of some well-known artists.

Teaching and learning will be based on a variety of methods, and these will include tutor presentations, demonstrations, and one-to-one personalised guidance.

Throughout the course, learners will practise and experiment with techniques in a supportive and friendly environment.

Skills for self-improvement, which could lead to further study and/or a pathway towards self-employment, or lead onto further education in this subject at York College.

Please bring an A3 sketch book (cartridge paper) and a 2B pencil, eraser and black ball point pen (a basic biro is ideal) to the first session.

Other materials you will need will be discussed during the course. We expect to use a range of materials, including coloured dry media & water based paints.

There will be no class on both Wednesday 27th September (Huntington School open evening) and Wednesday 1 November 2023 (half-term holidays).

This course ends a week later than originally advertised.

When you arrive at the school, please walk to the school's purple block entrance and York Learning staff will be there to show you to your classroom.

Please ensure that you read and understand the health and safety guidelines on any creative product or tools that you intend to use during the course.

Please note that Adult Education funding is for individuals who are over the age of 19 on the 31st of August prior to the start date of their course.
