French Year 2 - Term 2
This is a practical, communicative, face-to-face course based on listening, speaking, reading, writing and grammar skills. It is suitable for learners who have completed Year 1 and Term 1 of Year 2 with York Learning or who have previous knowledge of French and are at an equivalent level.

In Year 2, Term 2, we will build upon themes and grammar points covered previously and will focus on the following topics:

- Shopping for clothes and shoes, including colours, fabrics and sizes
- Expressing opinions about clothes, colours and styles, and making comparisons
- Asking the way and following directions
- Reporting problems (loss, theft)
- Talking about events in the past (using the ‘perfect’ tense)
- Talking about past holidays and future holiday plans
- Talking about the weather

If you have completed Year 1 and Term 1 of Year 2 with York Learning, or have an equivalent knowledge of French (i.e. you are familiar with all vocabulary and are proficient in all areas of grammar covered in BBC Talk French Book 1 and the first part of Book 2), and you wish to learn the language for travel, personal interest, or because you have French friends or family, this course is suitable for you.

This course provides skills for self improvement, which could lead to further study in the subject leading to work as a translator/interpreter.

Please bring a pen, A4 file paper and an A4 ring binder file for storing the handouts and exercise sheets that your tutor will provide throughout the course.

The course book used will be: BBC Talk French 2.

Important: if you have not already bought the book, please do not purchase it until after the first session, just in case the course doesn't run.

Please note that Adult Education funding is for individuals who are over the age of 19 on the 31st of August prior to the start date of their course.
