Delve into Criminology - exploring the criminal mind - Adult Learning in York Week
As part of the Learning in York week we are delighted to bring you this interesting workshop.

So, what are the causes of crime? Nature or nurture? Personality or poverty, and what actually is a psychopath?

This introductory talk provides a fascinating insight into the many theories and debates about the causes of criminal behaviour- from theft to murder. Is there a biological or psychological element to the criminal mind, and what would Freud Say? Or how big a part does the environment play? We consider an overview of the major theories drawn from biology, psychology and the social environment.

Dr Selina Copley is a criminologist with over 20 years’ experience of Forensic Criminology both as a senior lecturer, and as a practitioner who has worked with many high-profile offenders. This session is designed to be fun and accessible, with lots of examples, war stories and discussion.
