Painting & Drawing - Beginners
This is an introductory level class, where you will look at a range of different techniques and methods in drawing and painting; we will focus on the basics of line, shade, mark-making and colour. There will be a range of tutor-led demonstrations, practical tasks, and opportunity for experimentation. There will also be lots of time for you to share your work and get feedback during the class.

Your supportive tutor will demonstrate various approaches starting with drawing techniques and materials (including how to hold a pencil!), and then move on to colour mixing and using paints. You will try a range of materials including pen, pencil, charcoal, pastel and acrylic. You’ll pick up lots of tips about which materials to use and how to get the best out of them.

This course is suitable for absolute beginners as we will start with the very basics of creating art. For example, you may not have done any art since school, or you may lack confidence in where start. If you are more experienced but want a back-to-basics refresher course, then this course would be suitable too. The aim of the course is to provide you with a strong foundation as you grow in confidence. Prosp User 4
You will need to bring A4 paper/sketchbook and some basic art materials to each session, but please note that your tutor will give you full guidance on what materials you will need for the course during the first session. For the first class, please bring paper and a pencil. Prosp User 5
