Painting and Drawing - Art Improvers
This course is designed for learners who are already painting and drawing but want to develop their skills further in a creative environment and with the guidance of a professional artist-tutor. You may already have work on the go or be developing a project but would benefit from the creative input of a weekly group.

Throughout the course, your tutor will introduce you to different techniques and ideas, and you will be encouraged to develop your own ideas and work on self-directed projects. Learners in this group can work in a range of media including watercolour, acrylic, oil paint and pastel. Individual learners are encouraged to work across a arrange of themes and techniques from landscapes to abstract and figurative to still-life. Learners are encouraged to share their ideas and progress with each other.

This course is suitable for learners who have some experience in drawing and painting and may already be working on their own project. This class will provide you with structure and focus, and you will have opportunities to develop your skills and ideas. Throughout the course you will be encouraged to experiment and try new approaches. If you have completed other more themed or guided painting courses, then this could be the next step for you. You will need to provide your own art materials and bring them to class: this will depend week-to-week on what you are working on. You will be given lots of advice about art materials and what to buy throughout the course.

You will be encouraged to keep a sketch book and folder. Suggested art materials include paper/sketchbook, drawing materials (charcoal, pastels, pen etc.) and paints such as acrylic, watercolour or oils. PLEASE NOTE: If you wish to paint in oil paint during the course, please ensure that you use low-odour solvents.
