French Year 5
*Due to the newly planned Bank Holiday on Monday 19th September to mark the funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, this course will now start and end a week later than originally planned. The course will now start on Monday 26th September and finish on Monday 5th December.

The course is taught in a fun and friendly atmosphere by a native speaker who has many years of experience of teaching French to adults. The course will be taught for 8 weeks online via Zoom, and for 2 weeks as a face-to-face class at York High School.
You will learn key vocabulary and idiomatic expressions encountered in authentic dialogues which not only contain valuable grammar but also present aspects of French everyday life, society and culture. A wide range of specific activities will help you focus on the language taught and retain it, whilst you develop your linguistic skills and confidence in speaking French. There will be opportunities to revisit the tenses you need in order to talk about past holidays and future events, and to learn more complex grammar including combining the pluperfect “if I had done” and the pluperfect “I would have done”.

The emphasis is on spoken French, therefore there will be plenty of opportunities for you to speak the language during lively, interactive lessons. The sessions will be fun and friendly, and you will find it easy to join in the online conversations.
Extracts of videos of French news, conversations, etc. will be shown during the lessons and other documents will be used via Zoom during the online lessons.

As most of this course will be taught online via Zoom so it is important that you also read the section 'Is there anything else I need to know?'.
