Pilates for All
THIS IS A HYBRID COURSE THAT YOU CAN ATTEND AT THE VENUE OR ONLINE VIA ZOOM

This Pilates course is suitable for beginners and also for individuals who have already learnt the principles of Pilates to further improve posture, balance and alignment of the body. The six principles of Pilates are concentration, control, centre, flow, precision, and breathing. Students are taught to use their “powerhouse": the powerhouse is the centre of the body and when strengthened, it offers a solid foundation for any movement. This Pilates class will focus on core strength and train the body as an integrated whole. Participants will improve strength and balanced muscle development through Pilates exercise as well as improving flexibility and increased range of motion for their joints. The course will develop your Pilates skills and help you to maintain and build your form, ability and strength. Exercises will progress as the course continues dependant upon your individual ability.

Engage in a variety of exercises to suit your level and ability which will help to improve your posture, flexibility and core stability.

This is a hybrid course giving you the opportunity to attend in person but also from home or wherever via Zoom. You can choose on a week by week basis whether to attend in person or on Zoom.

What do I need to bring and are there any additional costs?
"This is a Hybrid course. This means you have a choice in how you participate. You don’t have to decide now, in fact you can decide on a week by week basis depending on your personal circumstances, weather, transport etc. You can either join the class in person at Heworth Cricket Club or from anywhere you like online via Zoom!

If attending in person please bring a Pilates mat at least 12mm thick which can be purchased for £10 - £15, a Cushion or block (optional - Approx £4-5). Wear loose clothing, suitable for exercise, bring a towel and a water bottle. All long hair must be tied back and loose jewellery removed. No footwear is required.

A resistance band may be incorporated into the exercises and provides an opportunity to explore working within a deeper range, particularly with regard to hip and spine mobility. A light resistance band is recommended, normally red, and costs approximately £5."
