International women's week: Knickers! Stretch fabric
Make your own knickers in our upcoming workshop! During the session you will learn to sew a pair of jersey knickers using a sewing machine (and overlocker).

The pattern will be provided – Tilly and the Buttons ‘Iris’ with a choice of waistlines and leg openings. Once enrolled we will contact you to ask which size and style you would like to make on the day and a pattern will be prepared for you to use in the workshop.

The course will also cover how to customise your knickers with unique style lines, design details and how to convert them to ‘period knickers’. You won’t want to stop at just one pair! This class will inspire you again and again.

This workshop is part of International Women's Week, which takes place from 5 - 13 March 2022. Find out more at yorkwomen.org.uk.

The class is an introduction to knicker making: you’ll learn the basics of assembling knickers from cutting the pattern, to sewing the pieces together and elastic application. This course is perfect for those who have a basic knowledge of using their sewing machine but would like an introduction to sewing stretch fabrics. Prosp User 4
Please bring along ‘off cuts’ of stretch fabric (light to medium weight stretch knit fabric with a 4-way stretch and good recovery, such as jersey, scuba, stretch mesh, stretch velvet). These need to be large enough to make a pair of knickers.

Elastic and fabric for the crotch lining will be provided by the tutor at the additional cost of £4.00 per student. This amount is paid to the tutor on the day. Please bring the correct amount to avoid cash handling.

Please also bring your own hand sanitiser and sanitiser wipes, as well as any refreshments you might need on the day (as no refreshments are provided by the venue).

If COVID-19 guidelines change at short notice and face-to-face delivery is no longer possible, the course will be cancelled.
