French Upper Intermediate
The course is taught in a fun and friendly atmosphere by a native speaker who has many years of experience of teaching French to adults. Improve your French by reading French magazines and newspapers articles, listening to and watching French TV news extracts, and other audio and visual materials which deal with topical issues in France. A wide range of specific activities will help you focus on the language taught and retain it.

The course will help you use the language correctly and confidently using idiomatic French. You will also improve your understanding of contemporary France and its language, which you will develop through the use of authentic current materials.

The emphasis is on spoken French, therefore there will be plenty of opportunities for you to engage in lively whole class and group conversations. This is a fun and friendly course, and you will find it easy to join in with the online conversations.

This course is taught online via Zoom, so please ensure you read the section 'Is there anything else I need to know?'

This course is for anyone interested in developing conversation skills in French in many topics of conversation. Ideally you will have already studied French for at least five years fairly recently and have a good grasp of grammar and spoken French, or would like to regain fluency in the French language which you had learnt to a good standard many years ago.

The course takes learners to B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) which is equivalent to the second year of A level.

If you are unsure which level of course you should join, please email us at york.learning@york.gov.uk and we will pass on your query to the appropriate tutor.
