Pilates for Beginners
This Pilates course is suitable for beginners or those who have had a break from regular practice.

This is a hybrid course, with the option to attend at New Earswick Folk Hall in person or online via Zoom.

During the class we will review body alignment, breath and core control. We will perform exercises that allow us to stabilise through the pelvis and shoulder girdle and practice breathing patterns to aid strengthening through the whole core.

There will be an opportunity to improve balance from both a standing, seated and lying position as well as revisiting the six principles of Pilates namely: concentration, control, centre, flow, precision and breathing. This class will focus on core strength and train the body as an integrated whole to see improvements in flexibility and mobility through the joints. Through dedicated practice, it is hoped that holistic benefits will be experienced to aid relaxation, general well-being and improved sleep.

Please bring your own water bottle and hand sanitiser and sanitiser wipes to each session for your own personal space. For comfort, you may wish to exercise on a mat which can be purchased for £5 - £10 and also have a small towel or cushion. A resistance band can be incorporated into the exercises and provides an opportunity to explore working within a deeper range, particularly with regard to hip and spine mobility. A light resistance band is recommended, normally red, and costs approximately £5. Prosp User 5
