Textile Landscapes
Stitch a gentle landscape using textured fabrics, wool, net, embroidery thread and beads. Starting with a very simple line drawing, just four flowing lines, you will be then shown how to transfer that to fabric. You will layer your fabrics in a way that emphasises distance and foreground. Simple hand stitches will be used to attach the fabrics and add surface decoration.

A wide range and variety of fabrics will be available during the session with which to create your piece, including background fabric, textured fabrics, net, wool, beads and embroidery threads. The price of these materials is included in the cost of the course.

Sewing machines will also be available on the day if you would prefer to use a mixture of hand and machine sewing to make your piece.

It would be helpful, when enrolling, to state what season you would like to work with i.e. winter, spring, summer or autumn. This enables the tutor to supply you with the appropriate colours in your pack. Please email york.learning@york.gov.uk to let us know your season preference.

The session is 5 hours in length and we will stop for a break for lunch halfway through.
