Scandinavian Folk Art Embroidery (Adult Learning in York Week)
We hope you’ll enjoy this Adult Learning in York Week taster session.

Stitch a Scandi-inspired piece for your home. You will create a symmetrical pattern of birds, hearts, leaves and flowers using supplied templates. These shapes will be cut out of felt and stitched onto a white fabric background and edged with ribbon or lace. The stitches used will be simple running stitch, cross stitch and maybe French Knots.

This workshop is open to all but it would be an advantage to have some experience of simple hand stitching. The session is four hours long and you can take a break at any point once the initial explanation is over. You will be able to work at your own pace and join in the general conversation as much and as little as you want. Prosp User 4
A pack of materials will be available from the tutor on the day at no extra cost.

Please bring some sharp scissors, pins and needles.

If you would like refreshments, please feel free to bring your own flask and sandwiches. Alternatively, the library café is open and you can buy drinks and snacks from there.

Please bring you own hand sanitiser and sanitiser wipes as you will be responsible for cleaning your own workspace.

This course takes place in the Garden Room at the central library in York. It is a ground floor classroom. Please note that the library has no parking available. There are sometimes a couple of available parking slots for people with a blue badge directly outside the library but these are City of York Council owned, and not library owned, and cannot be relied on to be available. There are bike racks and a number of buses that stop nearby.
