Chair Based Pilates
This chair-based Pilates-inspired workout is suitable for people who have difficulty getting down on the floor and prefer the support of a chair. Regular Pilates practice can help improve posture, muscle tone, balance, and joint mobility, as well as relieve stress and tension.

This chair-based exercise class helps you to maintain your independence whilst working your body. The class introduces you to a gentle warm up consisting of joint mobilisation exercises followed by light cardiovascular exercises to help support and maintain a good fitness level whilst warming up the body preparing you for exercise. We then learn to lengthen the muscles of the body by completing stretching exercises. The next stage of the workout is resistance training - this is where you will utilise your bodyweight or light weighted objects to strengthen your muscles. We will condition the muscles of the body to withstand resistance and build on this week in week out during the follow on course, aiming to enhance your strength and power. The next phase will be working on your core muscles and balance. Some of these exercises will be standing but can also be done in a seated position. The final section of this class focuses on breathing and calming the body down and supporting your mental wellbeing. The beauty of this class is that the tutor can modify exercises that might not be suited to you. The tutor will work at a pace that suits all however she may advance some exercises for those who wish to progress.

This course is suitable for people who can not get on the floor to exercise. We will use the chair and other objects (balls, bands, weights) to challenge you. The class will be designed so that people can set their own pace / level of exercise with gentle instruction and motivation from the tutor. You will leave the class feeling stronger, healthier, fitter, and revived. Prosp User 4
Please bring with you (two water bottles to use as weights) or light weights if you have some.
