German Year 5
We will use the course book Schritte Plus Neu 5 (Huber Verlag).
We start with Unit 1 and study the topics everyday life, entertainment and healthy lifestyles. In terms of grammar, we study the Simple Past and Pluperfect, expressing different opinions using conjunctions, Relative Clauses, the Passive with Modal Verbs and the Genitive.
We learn by listening to and repeating new words and phrases, reading texts, doing a variety of paired work activities, and practising new language in role play situations.
The term builds on prior knowledge enabling greater fluency of the topics. All four skills continue to be developed.

Learning Aims and Outcomes:
-B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR)
-10 learning units in total but we start with Unit 1
- Extensive grammar sections and word glossary
-Lively and contemporary themes
-Comprehensive coverage of key grammar and vocabulary - for communicating in a range of common conversational settings
-Range of activities based on authentic materials - to see everyday German in context
-CD and integrated workbook - which contain all the conversations and listening activities from the coursebook
