Register Your Interest: Diploma In Therapeutic Counselling – CPCAB Level 4
This course continues on from the Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Studies and enables you to become a fully qualified counsellor working within an agency setting. You will continue to enhance your knowledge and understanding of the counselling role and shape yourself as an effective and competent counsellor. The Diploma is underpinned by the Person-Centred Approach and all aspects of the learning will be embedded by the person centred approach to understanding human behaviour and change. You will benefit personally and professionally from the insights gained from the 7 learning outcomes set by the awarding body (CPCAB) and your capacity to reflect on your own counselling practice will be supported and enhanced.

Those working in a helping/counselling role who wish to enhance and finely tune existing skills, and those wishing to gain recognised qualified counsellor status. Knowledge of counselling skills and theory is essential and candidates must hold a L2 & L 3 Certificate in Counselling or equivalent to apply.

You will need to have access to a device that enables you to access Zoom and Google Classroom so that you can attend the sessions and build an electronic portfolio of study. You will also need a notebook and a pen(s) and a willingness to participate in group discussion.

To attain the full qualification you are required to produce a comprehensive portfolio of written work in year 1 and year 2 and pass an external assessment (set in May of year 2). You are required to attend taught sessions and engage in approximately 6-8 hours of private study per week. Also required: 100 hours (minimum) of formally contracted and clinically supervised counselling sessions with at least five different clients in an agency setting. This placement must be approved by the centre and offer candidates the opportunity to meet the qualification specifications. Candidates must have secured a placement in order to progress to Year 2 of the diploma. The course tutors will offer support and guidance in finding and securing appropriate placements in spring term of year 1. Also required: 20 hours (minimum) of personal therapy by the end of year 2. A commitment to participating in group experiential learning and peer discussion is essential. To enrol, you must have successfully completed a Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Studies or equivalent. An interview with the course leader is an essential requirement of the application process. Also essential - GCSE English at A-C or equivalent, good computer skills and computer and internet access.
