Keep Up with the Children in Maths
Explore what children learn in maths at primary school, unravel the jargon and work on your own skills to be able to support your child's learning and gain an up to date adult qualification in maths for yourself.
Get to grips with fractions, decimals and percentages, measures, ratios and data handling and develop problem solving strategies to help with your child's homework and support your own learning. We promise this is not as scary as it sounds!
We will also talk about how best to communicate with your child's school and teachers to ensure that you can work together to give your child the best chance of success.
Alongside this, you will build up your own confidence and skills by working together to look at different ways to work out maths problems: "I started to understand things I've never understood before!"
You will be able to talk about your own learning and career aspirations, complete the adult qualification in maths and find out about opportunities for further learning. We will also look at how you can become a learning champion, work in schools and pre-school settings or explore other types of employment.
