Keep Up with the Children in English
Explore what children learn in their English lessons in primary school, get to grips with all the jargon and work on your own skills to support your child's learning and gain your own up to date English qualification.
We will talk about how reading and writing skills are developed at different stages through primary school and how you can support and extend a child's learning at home. We will discuss how best to communicate with your child’s school and teachers to ensure that you can work together to give your child the best chance of success.
Alongside this, you will build up your own confidence and skills by looking at different aspects of spelling, punctuation, grammar and different types of text, working towards a Functional Skills qualification in English. You will be able to talk about your own learning and career aspirations, complete the adult qualification and find out about opportunities for further learning.
We will also talk about how you can become a learning champion, work in schools and pre-school settings or explore other types of employment.
