Beginners Oil Painting
This course will teach you all you need to know to get you started on your oil painting journey.
Each week you will be given step-by-step instructions and structured guidance by your tutor Liz. We’ll start with the basics of setting up your works space and getting to know your materials, as well as how to store and care for your kit. We’ll then look at how to mix colours, how to create different consistencies of paint (fat over lean) and how to paint using both direct and indirect techniques.
Each week you can paint along at home, with simple exercise designed to build your understanding and confidence.

If you have never painter in oils before, then this course is for you. Also, if you have maybe tried them in the past, but feel you would benefit from some really clear advice so as to get the best out of them. Prosp User 4
You will need you own painting kit: oil paints, palette, brushes, oil painting paper or canvas, odourless solvent and linseed oil.
If you prefer to use water soluble oil paints then you don’t need solvent, but it’s useful to have some water-soluble painting medium or linseed oil.
You will be sent a materials list from your tutor before the course, but you can also wait until the first lesson as your tutor will go through everything you need in detail.

Click here to view a guide to the materials you will need.
