How Children Learn Maths at School
See how maths is taught to your children in school today. Use number lines, hundred squares and maths board games and make resources to try out at home. We will unravel some of the jargon, explaining techniques such as the grid method for multiplication and we'll share fun ways to learn times tables - one of the main building blocks for their future maths skills.
We will talk about what children will be expected to be able to do at different stages through primary school and look at how your child can learn from different activities and experiences at home to build up their confidence - and yours(!) - in maths.
Stuck with homework? Bring it along to the class and we'll see what we can do! If you're not confident about talking to your child's teacher about their progress, we can talk about this too.
The course will take place online in the autumn term. The follow on from this, in January, is an opportunity to continue to develop your skills to support your child but you will also be able to complete an adult qualification in maths for yourself. If you missed out on GCSEs at school, this is a great way to catch up.
