Crafts - Crafty Home - 10 Creative Ideas
Over the course of 10 weeks you will be introduced to a variety of materials and creative techniques and methods. Each week, you will spend two hours working on a new project. The materials we will be working with are as follows; scrap fabric, garden wire, buttons and beads, felt squares, collected twigs, branches and pine cones, garden foliage, foraged fruit, paper and paint, old emulsion, old festive baubles and wool for needle felting. Crafts techniques that we will be exploring will include appliqué, floristry, wire work, jam making, hand printing gift wrap/tags and needle felting. At the end of the course you will have made a collection of pieces including a rag wreath, hanging heart decoration, felt flowers, table decorations, gift wrap and tags, jam, needle felted baubles, a wire work jar garland, and a woodland hanging mobile.

Week One: Fabric Scrap Heart Shaped Wreath
This will be an introductory lesson where we will make a frame out of garden wire and use a simple knotting technique to make a decorative wreath using scrap fabric.

Week Two: Appliqué Fabric Hanging Heart
I will demonstrate how to make one applique heart using felt squares, scrap fabric, buttons and embroidery thread. A pattern for the hearts will be provided withstep by step sheet and people can go on to make as many as they want.

Week Three: Felt Flowers with Stems
In this weeks session we will be making flowers using felt squares and garden wire, with a view to using them in week four's pumpkin table decoration. A pattern for the flowers will be provided for people to print off along with step by step sheet, people can go on to make as many as they like for the table decoration.

Week Four: Pumpkin table decoration
I will demonstrate how to trim a pumpkin to fit a water holding container in, then how to create a floral decoration using greenery from the garden, windfall apples (if available) and the felt flowers created in week three.

Estimated cost of materials is £30 for 10 weeks, which will include a needle felting kit with which you will be provided, but this is a rough guide as you may already have some of the items listed.

Materials and tools needed for the first half of the course are as follows:
I roll of 2mm green coated garden wire, you can get a 15m roll for about £3 online, we will be using it for a few projects.
Approximately 2.5 metres of scrap fabric of your choice, this can comprise of old clothes, bedding, curtains etc or you can buy new if you wish.
A pack of 15x15cm (min size) felt squares or 12 individual ones in colours of your choice to include one green. Approx £3.

Materials for the second half of the term are:
Foraged Blackberries(frozen will be fine) cooking apples, sugar. Forgaged pine cones, selection of twigs, two small branches, medium sized beads or beaded jewellery to dismantle, 0.4mm roll of jewellery wire, metallic card, old festive baubles,one roll of brown paper, emulsion(a light colour, any old tin remnants) evergreens from the garden, garden wire,acrylic paint and potatoes for printing, One ball of yarn, wool or string.
