German Year 3
Learn how to make everyday conversation with German speakers and talk about leisure, personal details, the world of work and hobbies. Be able to express yourself more confidently on contemporary topics.

If you choose to attend all three terms throughout the year, this is what you will be learning in each term:

Term 1: You will extend your grammatical understanding further by being able to talk about illnesses, responding to invitations and restaurant etiquette. Learners will continue to review and extend previous topics as well as acquire a deeper understanding of the structures of language and culture.

Term 2: Using the new course book “Willkommen!2” you will review and practise familiar topics such as personal details and why you are learning German. New topics include the world of work and daily routine. You will learn by listening to and repeating new words and phrases, reading simple texts, doing a variety of paired work activities and practising new language in role play situations.

Term 3: You will continue with Willkommen!2 and you will revise and practise familiar topics such as hobbies and how to express likes and dislikes. New topics will include the world of work, describing where you live. The classes will focus primarily on speaking, listening and reading, as well as providing ample opportunities to work through a variety of exercises and practise new language in role play and conversational situations.

Course Outcomes:
-Reviews A1 and then maps from A2 to B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) for languages.
-Comprehensive coverage of key grammar and vocabulary - for communicating in a range of common conversational settings.
-Range of activities based on authentic materials - to see everyday German in context.

Please read the other sections of this guide, including 'What I need to bring' and 'Any other information'.
