Summer Festival - Expressive Watercolour Portraits
Create a colourful, expressive watercolour portrait in bold, free brushstrokes. In this one-day workshop we will explore how to create a loose, colourful portrait using bold, gestural brushstrokes. We will look at painting techniques including wet-into-wet, lifting colour, layering and more. You will have the chance to develop a free and fresh approach to painting watercolour, a dynamic and flexible medium.
Beginning with a group exercise to capture the same face (photo provided by tutor), you will then use these techniques and apply them to create your own chosen portrait.

Please have cartridge paper, canvas or canvas board. Watercolour paints and brushes will be necessary. Ideally you will need a portrait photograph too, for you to work from. The tutor can provide a photo reference if this is unavailable.
