Summer Festival - Experimental Painting Techniques
This mini course provides the opportunity to be playful with paint! Using a range of materials - acrylic, oils, crayons, varnishes - we will make a series of experiments. Through playing with processes of printing, scraping, dripping and washing paint, we will build up layers to make a series of abstract paintings using different kinds of marks. These processes can also easily be used with figurative work or as a starting point for making sketchbooks.

The workshops take place over three sessions which will allow paint layers to dry in between. We can then work back into the work with further marks and glazes. Our final session will look at colour and ways of balancing / harmonising a painting. No experience is needed at all - just a willingness to experiment, to play and to make the most of our artistic mistakes!
