B3047T1-Tap Dance for Beginners
Tap dancing is a most enjoyable dance genre which encourages a close relationship between the dancer and the music. It’s dynamic, energetic and a great way to get and stay fit.
Tap dancing for beginners will give you a basic understanding of tap technique and will develop your sense of rhythm and movement. A good tap dancer uses their whole body to convey the movement and sense of performance – it is not just about the feet! The course will explore different musical styles and will develop your ability to combine steps into dance sequences. Like all forms of dance, tap is great fun and is hugely beneficial for your physical and mental well-being. It’s guaranteed to bring a smile to your face!

Classes are designed to be accessible and are suitable for anyone in good health with a passion for dance. The class is aimed at beginners so no previous dance experience is necessary, but if you do have some prior knowledge you are still most welcome to come along. You will be required to complete the health questionnaire at the first class indicating any contra indications prior to exercise. Prosp User 4
Wear comfortable clothes that you can easily move in and suitable footwear. Tap shoes would be perfect but character shoes or other shoes with hard soles would be acceptable. Please avoid high heels. Prosp User 5
Before starting any exercise programme it is advisable to seek advice from your GP or a health professional if you have any health concerns, such as a health condition or an injury.
To find your classroom, please enter the school via community reception located at the bottom of the school drive by the main car park. Our door is to the right of the Better/Energise sports centre entrance (separate building) rather than using the school’s main reception back up the drive. Please arrive for your first class 10 minutes early to allow time to complete the health questionnaire to identify to the tutor any contra indications to undertake exercise.
